Learn, experience, and engage with the arts
This semester, Grab Bag Theater is launching a new program that will offer educational opportunities in the arts for middle schoolers! Our program will offer a variety of theater and dramatic arts workshops where students can learn skills useful for performance such as auditioning and dance techniques, or aspects of production design such as staging and lighting. These 45- minute long workshops will be held twice a month, alternating between different subjects taught by different student instructors. These events will be completely virtual, free of charge, and open to any students, grades 6-8, who are looking to learn, experience, and engage with the performing arts. Here is our plan for the coming months:
Expected classes in the near future:
The Arts and The Pandemic
In a time where we’re all feeling trapped, isolated, and emotionally vulnerable because of the effects of the pandemic, it is important to let a little creativity into our lives. This is especially true in the case of young people, particularly high and middle schoolers. We, at Grab Bag Theater, truly believe in the connection between the performing arts and our mental wellbeing. In a time period where rates of anxiety and depression are steadily rising, we would like to give young people a chance to explore a creative outlet; which might help them deal with the emotional stresses of the pandemic.
